The River Valley Dust Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight defeat. Their tough 85-62 defeat to American Leadership Academy - West Foothills might stick with them for a while. River Valley has struggled against the Guardians recently, as their game on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
River Valley's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Nash Hanrahan, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points and 4 assists, and Gabriel Short who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hanrahan has scored all season. Nysaiah Vargas was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
American Leadership Academy - West Foothills found their leader in underclassman Iziic Morales, who scored 20 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthias Brown, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds.
River Valley's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-11. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points per game. As for American Leadership Academy - West Foothills, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. River Valley will take on the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Kingman focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Saturday. As for American Leadership Academy - West Foothills, they and the Broncs will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
