After 11 games on the road, Shafter is heading back home. They will take on the Golden Valley Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Last Saturday, Shafter came up short against Mira Monte and fell 61-48.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Aidan Cardenas, who scored 16 points along with five steals. The game was his third in a row with at least ten points. Ian Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Golden Valley's four-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They came out on top against Kennedy by a score of 59-49. Golden Valley's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Shafter's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Golden Valley, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.
Shafter took their win against Golden Valley when the teams last played back in November by a conclusive 50-26. Does Shafter have another victory up their sleeve, or will Golden Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
