The Chenango Forks Blue Devils lost against the Seton Catholic Central Saints on January 9th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Chenango Forks had to suffer through a rough 70-33 loss at the hands of Seton Catholic Central. While losing is never fun, Chenango Forks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 378th, while Seton Catholic Central is ranked 35th).
Chenango Forks lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ethan Vaseleck, who scored two points along with three steals and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Liam Spalik, who scored six points.
Seton Catholic Central found their leader in underclassman Brian Dempsey, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sergio Rumpel, who scored 18 points.
Chenango Forks has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Seton Catholic Central, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 13-2.
Chenango Forks will head out on the road to face off against Union Springs at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Union Springs is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games. As for Seton Catholic Central, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Windsor Central at 7:15 p.m. Windsor Central is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
