3A Mid-State recap Oct. 9, 2012
Northern Guilford extended the longest winning streak in 3A Mid-State this week by beating McMichael, 56-7. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Northern Guilford took down the Phoenix 56-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. T.J. Logan threw for 20 yards, ran for 173 yards and caught three passes for 50 yards in the win.
Nigel Carlton provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Western Alamance topped Williams. He completed 12 passes for 189 yards and also ran for 89 yards. Carlton's favorite target this week was Justin Wilson, who caught three passes for 73 yards.
Josh Long put up the best numbers through the air as Eastern Alamance defeated Morehead. He finished with a total of eight completions for 124 yards and four touchdowns. Long's favorite target this week was Josh Jurgevich, who caught one pass for 40 yards.
5-foot-9 quarterback Long of the Eagles is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1437. He has also thrown 23 touchdowns. On the ground, Johnny Roscoe's team's Logan has rushed for 1214 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is DAKOTA HOPPER. The McMichael star has 28 catches for 501 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Northern Guilford takes on second place Rockingham County. Last week, the Nighthawks beat McMichael, while Rockingham County bested Eastern Guilford.
