Northville extended the longest winning streak in Kensington Lakes - Central this week by beating South Lyon East, 49-30. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Mustangs.
The Cougars fell to Northville 49-30 last week, the largest margin of any game. Zac Powers was a bright spot for South Lyon East, as he threw for 274 yards and ran for 25 yards in the defeat.
Michael Lindman's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Alex O'Brien contributed 124 yards. Trent Willenborg helped South Lyon East's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 94 yards.
O'Brien was the best running back in the league this week. In 21 carries, he ran for 124 yards as the Cougars lost to Matt Ladach's team. Powers also contributed to the rushing game with 25 yards on the ground.
South Lyon East's Powers and Morris led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Powers has thrown for 1,151 yards this season, while Morris has 28 catches for 470 yards. Stevenson's C.J. Weiss leads the league in rushing yards with 352.
A big matchup in Kensington Lakes - Central this week will be when Novi takes on the Mustangs. At the moment, the Wildcats are in third, while Northville is in first.
Novi made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,241 from 4,609. The improvement was largely due to a 15-13 victory over the Spartans last week.
