After flying high against the Buena Vista Bison last Saturday, the Omaha South Packers came back down to earth. Omaha South took a 65-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lincoln High. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Omaha South's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lou Hodoly, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jai Villafuerte-spears, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Omaha South now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Lincoln High, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
Omaha South will head out on the road to face off against Gretna at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Gretna knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Omaha South likes a good challenge. Lincoln High will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lincoln North Star at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
