The Sweetwater Wildcats will square off against the Sequoyah Chiefs at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sweetwater is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Sequoyah's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Wednesday: Sweetwater hadn't allowed a single run the last four times they've hit the field. The Wildcats never let Midway get on the board and left with a 12-0 win on Friday. Considering the Wildcats have won eight matches by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Sadie Scott made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Baylee Bohrer, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lillian Woodruff, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Sweetwater kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Sequoyah fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Heritage on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mountaineers by a score of 2-1. The Chiefs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Kaliegh Atchley spent all 8.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up 17 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 10 strikeouts per game.
Sweetwater's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Sequoyah, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Sequoyah's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sweetwater has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .450. It's a different story for Sequoyah, though, as they've only averaged .323. Will they be able to contain Sweetwater's hitters?
Sweetwater might still be hurting after the 18-9 defeat they got from Sequoyah in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
