The Mountain Ridge Sentinels will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Riverton Silverwolves at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Mountain Ridge won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 83-60 walloping at the hands of Corner Canyon. While losing is never fun, Mountain Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while Corner Canyon is ranked tenth).
Spencer Krainich put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 28 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Sylvester, who scored eight points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Riverton had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with an 89-78 victory over Copper Hills on Tuesday.
Mountain Ridge has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Riverton, their win bumped their record up to 13-4.
Mountain Ridge came up short against Riverton in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 52-44. Thankfully for Mountain Ridge, Jaxon Kerekes (who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
