After flying high against the Mitchell Marauders last Thursday, The Classical Academy Titans came back down to earth. The Classical Academy took a 54-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sand Creek. The Classical Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Sand Creek apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
The Classical Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Wenger, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Wenger has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Carter Miller, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
It was another big night for Josh Kotto, who scored 16 points for Sand Creek. Elijah Brotherns was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
The Classical Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-9. As for Sand Creek, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season.
The Classical Academy will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Sierra at 5:30 p.m. Sierra is coming into the matchup with six straight victories on the road, so The Classical Academy is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Sand Creek, they will square off against Elizabeth at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Elizabeth is coming into the game with four straight losses at home, meaning Sand Creek will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
