This season hasn't been kind to the Elkhart Lions, who are still winless after their tenth game. They fell just short of Mishawaka by a score of 48-45. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Elkhart in their matchups with Mishawaka: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Elkhart lost on Saturday, one person who can't be blamed is Javeis Hines. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points along with six rebounds and five assists. That's the first time this season that Hines scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinton Harris, who scored five points.
Elkhart's defeat was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-10. As for Mishawaka, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elkhart will square off against Bremen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mishawaka and Wawasee will face off at 7:45 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Wawasee is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
