On Friday, The Casteel Colts faced the Hamilton Huskies in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Casteel ended up on the wrong side of a rough 37-17 walloping at the hands of Hamilton. Casteel just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.
Despite the loss, Casteel still got an impressive performance from Jeremiah Newcombe, who rushed for 99 yards and a touchdown.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hamilton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Breylon Blount, who rushed for 200 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries, and also picked up 32 receiving yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Rich Lucero jr., who threw for 173 yards and two touchdowns.
Casteel now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Hamilton, their victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2.
Casteel will square off against Basha at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Basha knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Casteel likes a good challenge. As for Hamilton, they will be playing at home against Red Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Red Mountain is ranked 18th, while Hamilton is ranked sixth).
