The Horizon Hawks will head out to square off against the Fairview Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fairview took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Horizon, who comes in off a win.
Horizon is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Westminster with a sharp 14-2 win on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Parker Aaron made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Horizon is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-10 otherwise. Aaron was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two triples and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Horizon let Maxton Sosa and Zacchues Lujan run wild. Sosa got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI, while Lujan went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two runs gave Lujan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brayden Lopez, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.
Horizon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Mead hit Fairview with a four-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Knights fell just short of the Mavericks by a score of 8-7.
Jackson Wier was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Wier was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Wier wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Leo Muth, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double. Tanner Craytor was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
The win made it two in a row for Horizon and bumps their season record up to 8-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Fairview, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-9.
Horizon came up short against Fairview in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 14-10. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
