Adair County is 8-2 against Clinton County since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Indians are taking a road trip to square off against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Adair County will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
On Friday, Adair County got the win against Green County by a conclusive 14-1.
Jasper Kemp made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Kemp was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Adair County got a massive performance out of Zane Gist, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Jagger Kemp also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Adair County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Green County only posted an OBP of .320.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Clinton County's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Cumberland County by a score of 5-4. The game marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Clinton County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tucker Casada, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4. With that strong performance, Casada is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Another was Matt Duvall, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.
Clinton County's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-3. As for Adair County, their record now sits at 5-3.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Adair County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .441. However, it's not like Clinton County struggles in that department as they've averaged .456. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Adair County was able to grind out a solid victory over Clinton County when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
