Longmont is 8-2 against Centaurus since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Longmont Trojans will head out on the road to challenge the Centaurus Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Longmont focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Longmont came up short against Silver Creek and fell 52-44. While losing is never fun, Longmont can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while Silver Creek is ranked 18th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Dominic Lombrano, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Kolby Holmes, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Longmont struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Centaurus' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 62-42 loss at the hands of Greeley Central. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Centaurus has suffered since December 8, 2023.
Longmont's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6. As for Centaurus, they dropped their record down to 5-10 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Longmont won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, slipping by Centaurus 46-45. Will Longmont repeat their success, or does Centaurus have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
