The Valley View Eagles will challenge the Schurr Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Valley View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Valley View blew Paloma Valley out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Paloma Valley got their revenge. The Eagles fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 3-1. The matchup marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Alyssa Torres made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two doubles.
11 must be Schurr's lucky number: they beat Elsinore with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Spartans put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 11-4 win. Considering the Spartans have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Sophia De Santiago made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. De Santiago was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI.
In other batting news, Sarah Romero was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with four runs, two RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Samantha Maldonado was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
The victory was the third in a row for Schurr, bringing their record up to 9-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Valley View, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 12-1.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Valley View has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .471. However, it's not like Schurr struggles in that department as they've averaged .477. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Valley View couldn't quite finish off Schurr in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 and fell 4-2. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
