The Stanton Mustangs will challenge the Ravenna Bluejays at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Stanton took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past Laurel-Concord-Coleridge 68-12. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won three contests by 51 points or more so far this season.

Stanton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hunter Robinette, who rushed for 117 yards and two scores on only 11 carries. The Mustangs are 2-1 when Robinette posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 1-4 otherwise. Another signal caller making a difference was Packer Hogrefe, who threw for 161 yards and three TDs on only eight passes.
Meanwhile, Ravenna put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past West Holt with points to spare, taking the game 38-20. Given the Bluejays' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while the Huskies are ranked 87th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Stanton better focus on containing Trenton Wedemeyer and Kobe Chamberlin as the pair were huge in Ravenna's win. Wedemeyer rushed for 154 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry, while Chamberlin rushed for 186 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Wedemeyer's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 122 rushing yards.
Ravenna was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 377 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 258 rushing yards in four consecutive games.
Stanton's record now sits at 3-5. As for Ravenna, their record is now 8-0.
Thursday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Stanton has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 214 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Ravenna struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 317.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Stanton against Ravenna when the teams last played back in October of 2022, as the squad secured a 54-18 victory. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bluejays turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
