This season hasn't been kind to The Duncan Demons, who are still winless after their ninth game. They were dealt a 48-7 defeat at the hands of Elgin on Friday. While losing is never fun, Duncan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 178th, while Elgin is ranked 13th).
Sawyer Rice rushed for 39 yards and a touchdown. Sincere Young was his top target, picking up 32 receiving yards. On the ground, Tavion Holland rushed for 42 yards.
It was another big night for Matthew Lund, who rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Lund is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ritson Meyer, who gained 65 total yards and two touchdowns.
Duncan's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 0-10. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-1 Guthrie and 6-3 Midwest City (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 69.4% over those games). As for Elgin, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Duncan will take on El Reno at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Elgin, they will be playing at home against MacArthur at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. MacArthur is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
