The Parrish Community Bulls will head out to challenge the Lakewood Ranch Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Parrish Community has eight straight wins, Lakewood Ranch has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Parrish Community had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Braden River on Wednesday. Parrish Community never let Braden River get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. The Bulls might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by nine runs or more this season.
Not much got past Wesley Anderson, who gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks to keep Braden River off the board. Furthermore, Anderson didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February.

On the hitting side, Parrish Community let Tyler Brown and Sam Torres run wild. Brown went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI, while Torres scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Torres a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Ja'Brien Quiles, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Parrish Community kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Braden River only managed two hits.
Meanwhile, Lakewood Ranch didn't have quite enough to beat Sarasota on Wednesday and fell 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Mustangs have lost by just one run.
Nathan Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.
At the plate, Lakewood Ranch saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Sprague, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Parrish Community's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Lakewood Ranch, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.
Parrish Community came out on top in a nail-biter against Lakewood Ranch when the teams last played on Tuesday, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Parrish Community since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
