Baseball Recap: South Plaquemines Makes It Five in a Row at Home

South Plaquemines's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Booker T. Washington Lions a 16-0 shutout. The Hurricanes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by ten runs or more this season.

Khi Ancar and Collin Vong were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Ancar struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Vong tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance gave Ancar a new career-low in hits. At the plate, Ancar scored two runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Vong scored two runs and stole Four bases. while going 2-for-2. Ancar is becoming a predictor of South Plaquemines' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

South Plaquemines' victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Booker T. Washington, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.
