The Capital Golden Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Ridgevue Warhawks at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Capital took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Borah by a score of 7-3. The Golden Eagles haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Cooper Myers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Myers was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brady Ruzicka, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Capital was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. The last time their batting average was this high was was before the start of last season.
Ridgevue came out on top against Boise on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run fifth inning. The Warhawks' pitchers stepped up to hand the Brave a 10-0 shutout. The high-scoring effort was just what the Warhawks needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Preston Wade looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Landon Dance was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Logan Hirasaki also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Ridgevue is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Capital, their record is now 11-13.
Capital suffered a grim 12-4 defeat to Ridgevue in their previous meeting on Thursday. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
