West has gone a perfect 8-0 against Hunter recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Panthers will head out to take on the Wolverines at 3:30 p.m. West is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
West will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Summit Academy on Wednesday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 23-7 victory. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Janayah Young was excellent, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. Finau Otuafi also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .703. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Hunter didn't have quite enough to beat Copper Hills on Wednesday and fell 12-11.
Hunter got a massive performance out of IZABELLA MAILO, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. SYDNI MILLER was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
West's win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4. As for Hunter, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. West hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Hunter struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
West came out on top in a nail-biter against Hunter when the teams last played back in April of 2023, sneaking past 16-15. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Wolverines have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
