The Estes Park Bobcats will head out to face off against the Dayspring Christian Academy Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
On Saturday, Estes Park didn't have quite enough to beat Bishop Machebeuf and fell 4-2.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dayspring Christian Academy). They put the hurt on Monte Vista with a sharp 17-8 win on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Gage Davis and Logan Vaniddekinge made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Davis didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Vaniddekinge pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Davis has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Davis went 3-for-5 with six RBI, two runs, and one double, while Vaniddekinge went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one double. Those six RBI gave Davis a new career-high.
In other batting news, Dayspring Christian Academy let Kai Polk and Gavin Bohl run wild. Polk went 1-for-4 with four runs and one RBI, while Bohl went 2-for-3 with three runs. Those four runs gave Polk a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Owen Steward, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Dayspring Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Dayspring Christian Academy pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Estes Park, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Estes Park has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Dayspring Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Estes Park couldn't quite get it done against Dayspring Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Can the Bobcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
