The Berean Christian Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Albany Cougars at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Berean Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.4 runs per game this season.
Berean Christian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They put the hurt on El Cerrito with a sharp 9-3 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won three matchups in a row.
Audrey Longtin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Leila Rhoads, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Delaney Smith, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Albany came up short against Pinole Valley on Wednesday, falling 14-4. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Mackenzie Marion made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Jones, who went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs.
Albany's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Berean Christian, their win bumped their record up to 15-6-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Berean Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Albany struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
