Three must be Auburn's lucky number: they beat Marist with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Tigers beat the War Eagles by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.
Chase Cochran tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Antwane Daniels, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.
Meanwhile, Russell County made easy work of Park Crossing on Tuesday and carried off a 9-2 win.
Conner Cox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Russell County is 5-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-6 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Russell County got a massive performance out of Emaual Richards, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Carson Carswell, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.
Russell County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive contests.
Auburn's record now sits at 12-7. As for Russell County, their record is now 10-7.
Auburn came up short against Russell County when the teams last played on March 4th, falling 9-5. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
