The Stratford Spartans will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the East Nashville Magnet Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Stratford rose to the challenge on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 58-42 victory over White House-Heritage. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Stratford's zero-point performance the contest before.
Stratford's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Justyce Law led the charge by rushing for 157 yards on only 15 carries, while also throwing for 175 yards and three touchdowns. Jalen Watts got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, East Nashville Magnet waltzed into Friday's game with three straight wins but they left with four. They didn't even let Cheatham County Central onto the board and left with a 40-0 win. Considering East Nashville Magnet has won eight matches by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Keith Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 202 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelan Anderson, who rushed for 45 yards and two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Cheatham County Central to a paltry 232 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to East Nashville Magnet's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out five times before it was all said and done. Anderson was especially locked on to Cheatham County Central's QB and sacked him twice.
Stratford now has a winning record of 6-5. As for East Nashville Magnet, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Stratford has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 182.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like East Nashville Magnet struggles in that department as they've been even better at 224.8 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches. Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other football content.
