It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Port Neches-Groves Indians had no problem doing just that on Saturday. It was close, but they ultimately received the gift of a 20-17 win from a begrudging Indianssquad. Winning may never get old, but they sure are getting used to it with their 15th in a row.
Among those leading the charge was Isaiah Nguyen, who rushed for 111 yards.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Port Neches-Groves' defense and their 5.5 sacks. Andres Fuentes was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up three sacks himself.
Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed 12 in total. All those points came courtesy of Gio Oceguera: he added 12 points with four field goals.
Despite the loss, South Oak Cliff still got an impressive performance from Danny Green jr, who rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Green jr hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for five straight games.
Port Neches-Groves' victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-1. As for South Oak Cliff, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-3.
Port Neches-Groves does not have any more games scheduled as of now. South Oak Cliff also has no future games currently scheduled.
