Dixon won against Heide Trask last Wednesday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Dixon beat the East Carteret Mariners by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-3. The win was familiar territory for the Bulldogs, who have now won five contests in a row.
Kailei Dawsey made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over eight innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, Alivia Nokes was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Ray, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Dixon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matches.
The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 5-2. As for East Carteret, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
Dixon has already played their next game, a 13-2 defeat against Laney on the 19th. As for East Carteret, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against New Bern on the 14th.
