McAllen Memorial has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Rowe Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, McAllen Memorial was fully in charge, breezing past the Wolverines 84-39 at home. With that victory, McAllen Memorial brought their scoring average up to 50.4 points per game.
Madison Borjas was a one-man wrecking crew for McAllen Memorial as she went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points and 5 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Borjas has scored all season. Karly Bazan was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Rowe on the road against the Tigers on Tuesday as the squad secured a 76-9 win. Given Rowe's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 427th, while the Tigers are ranked 1440th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
McAllen Memorial pushed their record up to 22-12 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.2 points per game. As for Rowe, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a massive bump to their 22-10 record this season.
McAllen Memorial suffered a grim 52-29 defeat to the Warriors in their previous matchup back in January. Can McAllen Memorial avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
