Mercer Island is 9-1 against Interlake since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Mercer Island Islanders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Interlake Saints at 8:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Tuesday, Mercer Island came up short against Liberty and fell 63-52. Mercer Island has struggled against Liberty recently, as their game on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Nick Mautone, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Tristen Cruzen, who scored ten points.
Interlake suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They were beaten by Bellevue 88-51. Interlake was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-24.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Shelton Henton, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That was a full 35.3% of Interlake's points, marking the 14th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Clark Tonnon was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Mercer Island's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Interlake, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-8.
