The Sun Valley Spartans took a blow against the Mooresville Blue Devils on Friday, falling 49-14.
Mooresville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brody Norman out in front who threw for 172 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 37 yards and one score. Another back making a difference was Ja'Darius McCombs, who rushed for 139 yards on only nine carries.
Sun Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Mooresville, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-1.
Sun Valley and Mooresville should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Spartans will challenge Parkwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (51 vs. 211). Meanwhile, Mooresville (ranked 16th) will meet A.L. Brown (ranked 108th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
