The Lowndes Vikings can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They blew past Colquitt County 74-49. The victory was just what Lowndes needed coming off of a 75-50 defeat in their prior matchup.
Lowndes' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aryana Thomas, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Thomas continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Kimora Wade was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Colquitt County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jamya Moore, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Amira Walters- Smith, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Lowndes' win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Colquitt County, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lowndes and Richmond Hill will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Richmond Hill will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. As for Colquitt County, they will head out on the road to take on Camden County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Camden County is ranked 34th, while Colquitt County is ranked 22nd).
