The Olmsted Falls Bulldogs will venture away from home to take on the Rocky River Pirates at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Olmsted Falls came into their game last Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 8-2 to Midview. The Bulldogs' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
HAILEY KLAMUT made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Rocky River waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Mustangs.
Reagan Kane was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Carly Ewing was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Abbie Lamb, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.
Rocky River lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Olmsted Falls' loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Rocky River, their record is now 10-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Olmsted Falls has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Rocky River struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Olmsted Falls took their victory against Rocky River in their previous meeting back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 14-2 score. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
