Given their disadvantage in the MaxPreps state rankings, Douglass should expect quite the challenge on Friday. They take on Cordova at Wolf-pack Stadium at 7:00 PM. If the contest is anything like the 50-42 finish from the last time they met, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy.
Douglass didn't have too many spare points in their match with Memphis Academy of Health Sciences last week, but they still walked away with a 12-6 win. No one had a better game by the numbers than junior Eric Davis, who brought his A game into the match. He rushed for 168 yards and 1 touchdown.
Meanwhile, Cordova might be aching after a bruising 13-41 defeat to Whitehaven.
Douglass's victory lifted them to 2-1 while Cordova's loss dropped them down to 2-1. We'll find out if Douglass can add another positive mark to their record or if Cordova can shake off the loss and take the spring out of Douglass's step.
