Purcell is 8-2 against the Outlaws since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Purcell Dragons will head out on the road to square off against the Marlow Outlaws at 8:00 p.m.
Last Friday, Purcell came up short against the Bobcats and fell 59-46. That's two games in a row now that Purcell has lost by exactly 13 points.
Meanwhile, Marlow had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.6 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They strolled past Comanche with points to spare, taking the game 40-25. Given Marlow's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Indians are ranked 225th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marlow to victory, but perhaps none more so than Blayd Harris, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Harris hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Boomer Brooks, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Purcell's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Marlow, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.
Purcell and the Outlaws were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in January, but the Dragons came up empty-handed after a 47-46 defeat. Can Purcell avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
