The Hodgeman County Longhorns will head out on the road to take on the Kiowa County Mavericks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hodgeman County is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
Hodgeman County fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Bucklin on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Red Aces by a score of 49-46.
Despite the loss, Hodgeman County had strong showings from Morgan Ruff, who scored 12 points along with five assists, and Taylor Bamberger, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Reece, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Kiowa County came up short against South Central on Tuesday and fell 41-31. Kiowa County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Hodgeman County has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season. As for Kiowa County, they dropped their record down to 5-10 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Hodgeman County strolled past Kiowa County in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 by a score of 55-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hodgeman County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
