Even though the Juab Wasps have not done well against the Manti Templars recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Juab pulled ahead with a 57-56 photo finish over Manti. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Ava Cuff, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Addison Hyatt, who scored ten points.
Despite the loss, Manti still got an impressive performance from June Olsen, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Olsen has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times she's played. Brooklyn Olson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Juab's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Manti, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Juab will take on Emery at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Emery is ranked 51st, while Juab is ranked 45th). As for Manti, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Delta at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Delta is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
