Texico is a perfect 8-0 against Tucumcari since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. Texico will square off against Tucumcari at 11:15 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Texico took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on Oak Grove Classical Academy with a sharp 18-4 win.

Micky New was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesus Chavez, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3.
New wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Texico kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 25 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 15 consecutive games dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Tucumcari hadn't done well against Raton recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Tucumcari came out on top against Raton by a score of 9-4. The game was the first time the Rattlers have beaten the Tigers on their field since May 2, 2018.
Matt Gomez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. Gomez was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trip Payn, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
The victory got Texico back to even at 1-1. As for Tucumcari, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Everything went Texico's way against Tucumcari in their previous meeting back in April of 2018, as Texico made off with a 21-0 victory. Does Texico have another victory up their sleeve, or will Tucumcari turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
