The Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners will face off against the Palo Verde Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Southeast Career Tech has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Southeast Career Tech and Foothill meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Roadrunners came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 8-6 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Roadrunners have posted since March 1st.
The team relied heavily on Neveah Fuller, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Palo Verde strolled into their game on Wednesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came out on top against Liberty by a score of 7-2.
Ava Koenig spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Palo Verde let Halle Law and Taylor Johns run wild. Law went a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and one run, while Johns went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. Law has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Haley Kearnes also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Palo Verde hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three strikeouts batters in five consecutive contests.
Palo Verde pushed their record up to 9-0 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Southeast Career Tech, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Southeast Career Tech hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .383. However, it's not like Palo Verde struggles in that department as they've averaged .437. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
