The Bemidji Lumberjacks are taking a road trip to square off against the Rocori Spartans at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bemidji will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Bemidji barely beat East Grand Forks the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lumberjacks were the clear victors by a 15-7 margin over the Green Wave on Monday. The match marked the Lumberjacks' most dominant win of the season.
The team relied heavily on Eli Kringen, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Lawson Berg also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Bemidji was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Rocori was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Red Wing by a score of 7-4. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Wingers: they've now won seven in a row.
Nolan VanLoy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on nine hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Max Fredin was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Cal Heying, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Bemidji's record now sits at 11-3. As for Rocori, their record is now 12-3.
Everything went Bemidji's way against Rocori in their previous matchup back in April of 2021, as Bemidji made off with a 10-0 win. Will the Lumberjacks repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
