Softball Recap: Melbourne Has No Trouble Against Rockledge

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Viera, Melbourne was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Rockledge Raiders 12-2. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won five in a row.

Layna Ayala was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Cottrill, who scored a run while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Melbourne always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rockledge only posted an OBP of .211.

Melbourne now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Rockledge, the defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 3-2.

Looking ahead, Melbourne is headed away from home for the first time to face off against Space Coast at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rockledge, they will face off against Eau Gallie at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rockledge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
