The Ben Lomond Scots pushed their score all the way to 57 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to West 62-57. Ben Lomond has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Ben Lomond's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jonathan Alcarez, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and five steals, and Jordan Harrison who scored 14 points along with three blocks. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for him. Malakai Mack was another key contributor, scoring five points along with three steals.
West found their leader in underclassman Elijah Albertson, who scored eight points along with seven assists and five steals. Those seven assists set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Phillip Ladua, who scored 14 points.
Ben Lomond has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for West, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ben Lomond's road trip will continue as they head out to face American Leadership Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (American Leadership Academy is ranked 112th, while Ben Lomond is ranked 98th). West won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Taylorsville at 7:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Taylorsville is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
