Basketball Recap: Thatcher Takes a Loss

Thatcher was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 51-50 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mohave Accelerated Patriots. One positive for the Eagles, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Leading Mohave Accelerated to victory were Megan Jones and Katie Farnell. Jones dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Farnell went 9 of 18 on her way to 19 points. Farnell has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Tanner Banks, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

Thatcher's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Mohave Accelerated, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thatcher will take on Coolidge in a holiday battle at at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Coolidge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.2 points per game this season. Mohave Accelerated and Parker will compete for holiday cheer at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Mohave Accelerated also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 50.6 points per game.
