Sequatchie County hasn't had much luck against Bledsoe County recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Sequatchie County Indians will head out on the road to take on the Bledsoe County Warriors at 5:30 p.m. Sequatchie County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
Sequatchie County lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Tyner Academy, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's match. Sequatchie County was the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over Tyner Academy on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Indians sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Lyla Houk made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Madison Fine and Ainsley Pickett did most of the damage at the plate: Fine scored three runs while going 2-for-2, while Pickett scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Fine a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Jaci Smith, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Sequatchie County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Bledsoe County posted their closest win since May 10, 2024 on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Whitwell 3-1. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.
Josie Potter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Macy Holland was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. Brooke Ross also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Sequatchie County's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bledsoe County, they now have a winning record of 3-2-1.
Bledsoe County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sequatchie County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .480. It's a different story for Bledsoe County, though, as they've only averaged .343. Will they be able to contain Sequatchie County's hitters?
Sequatchie County couldn't quite finish off Bledsoe County when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can Sequatchie County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
