Baseball Game Preview: First Flight Nighthawks vs. Northeastern Eagles

First Flight is a perfect 10-0 against Northeastern since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The First Flight Nighthawks will welcome the Northeastern Eagles at 7:00 p.m. First Flight will be strutting in after a victory while Northeastern will be coming in after a loss.

First Flight will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Fredericksburg Christian on Saturday. First Flight was the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over Fredericksburg Christian.

Ben LaVier looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Everest Ouellette was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Fionn Reilly was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.

First Flight always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fredericksburg Christian only posted an OBP of .333.

Meanwhile, Northeastern unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against Cape Hatteras on Monday, falling 9-2.

Northeastern saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Payton Paris, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

First Flight now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Northeastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

First Flight took their win against Northeastern in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0. Will First Flight repeat their success, or does Northeastern have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
