The McLaughlin Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They lost to Winner on the road by a decisive 65-47 margin. McLaughlin has not had much luck with Winner recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Leading Winner to victory were Shawn Hammerbeck and Aiden Barfuss. Hammerbeck dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Barfuss scored 18 points along with seven assists. Barfuss is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in the last three games he's played. Carter Craven was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
McLaughlin's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Winner, they pushed their record up to 13-4 with that win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season.
McLaughlin will take on Standing Rock at TBD on Tuesday. As for Winner, they will head out on the road to square off against Platte/Geddes at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Winner focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday.
