Wyatt Herring spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Wyatt Scott was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Tew, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.
Scott wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Midway kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.
Midway's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for South Lenoir, their loss ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Midway will face off against Cape Fear at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cape Fear's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Midway's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for South Lenoir, they will challenge Southwest Onslow at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
