The North Woods grizzlies will head out on the road to face off against the Red Lake Warriors at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, North Woods didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Bigfork, but they still walked away with a 48-42 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for North Woods.
Meanwhile, even though Nashwauk-Keewatin scored an imposing 68 points on Monday, Red Lake still came out on top. Red Lake took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 112-68 victory over Nashwauk-Keewatin.
Gerald Kingbird jr was a one-man wrecking crew for Red Lake as he scored 39 points along with 8 assists and 8 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Kingbird jr has scored at least 25% of Red Lake's points. Another player making a difference was Jack Brown, who scored 31 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds.
The opposite results left the teams with opposite records: North Woods' win pushed their record up to 2-0, while Bigfork's loss dropped theirs down to 0-2.
North Woods came up short against Red Lake when the teams last played back in January, falling 105-97. Can North Woods avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
