The New Albany Bulldogs's four-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They walked away with a 60-51 win over North Pontotoc. Given New Albany's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while North Pontotoc is ranked 223rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
New Albany got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Braden Shettles out in front who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Shettles hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Kylan King, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
New Albany's victory bumped their record up to 13-8. As for North Pontotoc, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-18 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Albany won't have much time to rest: their next game is against South Pontotoc at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. South Pontotoc will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. As for North Pontotoc, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bruce at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
