Landyn Davis was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Window Rock is 2-1 when Davis posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Adriano Westbrook, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, El Capitan entered their tilt with Ash Fork/Seligman on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 19-1 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by 12 runs or more this season.
Kendall Hammon made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Aryck Hammon was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Avery Hammon was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
El Capitan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ash Fork/Seligman only posted a batting average of .167.
El Capitan's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Window Rock, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Window Rock has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .458. However, it's not like El Capitan struggles in that department as they've averaged .570. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
