Basketball Recap: Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Skates Past Millwood with Ease

Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 38-point drubbing they dealt Millwood on Wednesday. The Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Knights blew past the Millwood Bobcats 59-21. The match marked the Knights' most dominant win of the season.

Leading Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot to victory were John Loftin and Taylor Hamner. Loftin went 6 for 11 en route to 16 points along with seven assists and four steals, while Hamner went 7 of 17 on his way to 18 points. Loftin has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Emanuel Wright, who posted 12 points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Millwood only posted two assists.

Despite the defeat, Millwood saw an underclassman step up: sophomore James Mcrae scored six points and 11 boards. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Mcrae. The team also got some help courtesy of Hazem Elkarim, who had two points and ten boards.

Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Millwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-52 loss against Kenston Forest on the 24th. Millwood has also already played their next game, a 58-13 win against The New Community School on the 27th.
